Alpha-Beta brass with 42% Zn content. The alpha phase is more reddish, which is due to its higher Cu content. The beta phase is more brownish. In case of overetching, alpha remains and beta is etched out deeper. The hardness is 115 HV0.2.

Good mechanical properties and machinability result from the combination of alloy composition and microstructure. The material is also very easy to form hot and cold, opening up new possibilities in component manufacture. The alloy is suitable for jewellery applications due to its very low Pb content according to REACH. For use in drinking water, Ni must not exceed 0.2 %. Areas of application are the watch and jewellery industry, the automotive sector, components in electrical engineering and general mechanical engineering.
