Non-hardenable (naturally hard) Al alloy with high corrosion resistance, which is used, for example, in shipbuilding or plant construction. Al-Mg alloys are best etched electrolytically (Barker), as NaOH primarily dissolves the precipitates, but makes the grain boundaries barely visible.
