CFRP with PA6 binding matrix
The porosity of this carbon fiber reinforced plastic had to be quantified. The workpiece was therefore not allowed to be vacuum infiltrated during embedding, since the embedding material cannot be distinguished from the binding matrix by light microscopy. There is the possibility of fluorescent embedding agents, but this would only have allowed us to infiltrate the pores open to the surface. The challenge was therefore to achieve a perfect and sharp-edged sample preparation, despite the presence of pores. Enclosed is the result that speaks for itself.
