Titanium Grade 5 | Ti6Al4V | R56400 eroded

The micrographs show the formation of the rim zone of a die or wire eroded component (micrographs 1-6 and 7-12, respectively). In the unetched state, no oxide skin is visible. In the etched state, there is a dark etched area. This should be beta phase. The bright unetched fringe is not alpha case but pure α phase.
