1.0143 | S275J0 Steel beam with fire damage

After a fire in a hall, the aim was to check whether the steel beams had been damaged by the effect of heat. The sampling locations were determined by the fire expert. The average yield strength of 285 MPa is above the required minimum value. No impairment (e.g. grain growth, spheroidization of the pearlite, surface decarburization) can be detected in the microstructure even under the scale layer. The supporting beam structure can therefore continue to be used.
