LPBF (Laser Bed Powder Fusion) was used to generate a component part from the maraging tool steel 18MAR300. Maraging is normally performed at 490 °C, 6 h, air. In the overview, the pattern of the individual laser paths can be clearly seen. Due to the self-tempering effect of the next welding level, a very finely feathered martensitic microstructure has formed.
