This hypereutectoid steel (bar material with ⌀ = 30 mm) with 1.28 % carbon (measured by OES; nominal: 1.1 – 1.25 %) was annealed at 950 °C for 30 minutes on cementite network and then slowly cooled in the furnace. The microstructure consists of pearlite and secondary cementite which formed along the pearlite grain boundaries. The average core hardness is 318 HV5.
