The microstructural images show a high-speed steel produced by powder metallurgy after hardening (+Q). This was tempered at a very low temperature (25 °C) in order to document the microstructure formation in a tempering series. The microstructure is very fine-grained with typical carbide precipitations.
The etching time with 3 % Nital was 8 min.
