This martensitic stainless steel is used for the production of rolling bearings or knife blades. The micrographs 1-4 show a very fine distribution of primary chromium carbides; the material has been well forged. The micrographs 5-11 show a strong banding of the primary carbides. The degree of forging is clearly lower.
