Nitriding at approx. 370 °C does not lead to chromium nitride precipitation in the diffusion zone and therefore has no negative effects on the corrosion resistance (in contrast to conventional nitriding processes for stainless steels). A diffusion zone is therefore not visible even through etching. The compound layer is only a few µm thin.
