Stainless austenitic steel with sulfur addition, here as a bar stock with axial manganese sulfide lines. 0.15-0.35% sulfur and up to 2% manganese provide the high proportion of manganese sulfides used for chip breaking during machining (free machining steel). Recrystallized austenitic structure; during etching the MnS lines partially fall out.
