Etching | Bloech & Wedel |
Duplex steel with excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. Due to its sea water resistance, it is used in the offshore industry, as well as in chemical and food industry or in marine engineering.
The steel was neither attacked by hot V2A etchant nor by Kalling 2. Etching acc. to Bloech&Wedel results in brown or blue austenite and white ferrite. Etching with concentrated HCl and H2O2 gives less distinct results, although the austenite seems to be etched first, since the ferrite contains more chromium.
