The heat-resistant cast steel is used for furnace parts under high mechanical stress, e.g. transport grates and rollers. The cast structure contains eutectic chromium carbides in an austenitic matrix. The fine stripe patterns are not preparation artifacts but originated from precipitations (probably carbides) on dislocations.
