The screw head was inductively heated to approximately 950°C and forged. The micrographs show etching to the former austenite grain size using our specially developed etchant PAG QT². Even in this ‘undefined heat treatment condition’, the PAGs are clearly visible on the screw head.
We have listed different etch times here:
- (a) PAG QT² (a): 3+3
- 3% Nital 8 seconds
The microstructure consists of martensite, bainite and (free) ferrite.
The hardness is 289 HV 10.
