Al extruded profile with alleged extrusion defect

In a massive Al extruded profile, macroscopic abnormalities became visible on the cutting area after cutting with a flying saw. A defect in the extrusion profile (moulding defect) was suspected. Metallographic examination showed carbide grains stuck in the surface, originating from the saw blade.
