CW505L | CuZn30

Brass alloy with 30% Zn content. The microstructure is single-phase (up to approx. 36% Zn content). The hardness is 148 HV0.1.

Zn causes solid solution strengthening. It has very good cold formability (bending, stamping, punching) and is suitable for soldering. During welding, Zn may evaporate. With increasing Zn content, the strength improves at the expense of conductivity and ductility. CuZn30 is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking; Stress relief annealing when used in NH3 atmosphere is highly recommended. The price of the alloy decreases with increasing Zn content. Areas of application are the metal goods industry and deep-drawn parts, automotive, heat exchangers, cooling units, chains, connectors and electrical engineering as well as general mechanical engineering.
