Alternative brass alloy for drinking water installations, as the alloy is considered resistant to stress corrosion cracking and dezincification, but without lead, arsenic and nickel.
Composition here according to OES: 19% Zn, 3% Si, 0.06% P, remnant Cu. Multiphase alloy that can contain up to four phases depending on heat treatment. Here, only α (fcc, brown) and κ (hcp, light) are present, probably annealed at about 600 °C. The α phase is more prone to twinning and contains slightly less Si and more Zn than the κ phase. Its more etched grains appear coarse in SEM.
