This near-eutectic aluminum casting alloy shows the following mechanical properties in permanent mold casting:
Without heat treatment:
Rp0.2=90 MPa, Rm=180 MPa, A >1%, 55 HBW2.5/62.5
T6 heat treatment:
Rp0.2=200 MPa, Rm=240 MPa, A >1%, 80 HBW2.5/62.5
The eutectic is not refined here, which is not required for a permanent mold casting due to the more athletic cooling rate.
The acicular formation did not have a significant effect on the mechanical properties compared to the sand cast specimen.
