Ferrophosphorus is a master alloy usually containing 18 to 25 wt% of phosphorus, which is added to cast irons, for example, to improve the castability of the melt and the corrosion resistance. The microstructure consists of Fe2P (bright in SEM backscattered electron image) and Fe2P-FeP eutectic.
