This high-strength strip steel (Rm 700 MPa, A 12%) has a carbon content of approx. 0.08%. The microstructure is ultra fine-grained. The micrographs 1-4 show the recrystallized state. Here, finely dispersed, dark gray precipitates are visible. Locally, Ti(C,N) precipitates are present. Figure 5 shows a “coarse grain area”, if one may speak of it at this size range. Figs. 6-7: Here, the heat treatment “hardening” has produced a soft-martensitic microstructure. The formation is more similar to bainite, but typical for the low carbon content.
